Miranda Lambert’s ‘Record’ Goes Gold

Miranda Lambert's latest album, 'Four the Record,' has been certified gold, signifying sales of more than half a million. Released Nov. 1, 2011, it's the Texas native's fastest-selling album to date and is a fan and critic favorite alike. The project made our Top Country Albums of 2011 list, along with year-end lists compiled by Rolling Stone, USA Today, People and several other publications.

'Four the Record' also makes Miranda's career one for the record books. It's the singer's fourth consecutive album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. That's a feat no other country artist has ever achieved with their first four albums in the 48-year history of the chart.

Following the album's hit debut single, 'Baggage Claim,' Miranda's latest radio hit is 'Over You,' a tearjerker co-written with husband Blake Shelton. The song was inspired by Blake's brother, who died in a car accident in 1990.

"I've never written a song or even sang a song about a death," says Miranda. "Maybe because I haven't had a real hard personal experience with someone close to me passing away. But now that I'm married to Blake, and I'm so close to him and his family ... His brother passed away when Blake was 14. His name was Richie. And over time, he's opened up to me a few times and actually told me the story one day of exactly what had happened. Being that close to him now almost feels like it happened to me, and I wasn't even there."

Miranda's headlining On Fire tour kicks off Jan. 12 in Rockford, Ill. Chris Young and Jerrod Niemann are also along for the ride, opening for the CMA Female Vocalist of the Year in more than 30 cities.

"I'm looking forward to the tour and playing some new music from 'Four the Record' and kicking some attitude," said Miranda. "Chris and Jerrod have great shows, and we're gonna have a lot of fun out there."
