Luke Bryan is enjoying his new role as a headliner on his own Dirt Road Diaries tour. The Georgia native, who previously served as an opening act for Jason Aldean and Tim McGraw, admits he's still a bit surprised by the overwhelming success of his own trek.

"We felt like we were going to be really strong in certain places," he told The Boot and other reporters at a recent media event. "But when I get an e-mail or my management calls me or my promoter texts me and goes, 'Dude, you just sold something out in five minutes.' That's where I always dreamed of being -- to have music out there that you love playing every night. You hear artists saying that they had to sing a song their whole lives that they hated. I think that's a tragedy. Every time I look on my set list and see what song I have next, I'm like, 'Oh, this is going to be fun!' And that's such a blessing for me. I love the vibe."

The 36-year-old singer, who is joined by Thompson Square and Florida Georgia Line for the first leg of the tour, says it's like one big party every night. "It's a fun three hours for fans," he notes. "I never would have imagined they would be selling out this quick. It's like an inner peace that I've been searching for as an artist. To roll into town, and you know it's sold out -- there's no better feeling. You won't be staring at half-empty venues, and they're going to have to hang curtains to hide open seats. It's the most gratifying experience in the world."

The married father of two says the tour's moniker is a perfect fit. "What was interesting about naming Dirt Road Diaries is, we did it on the fly," Luke says. "I typically simmer on decisions like that a little longer. What's funny is, I can't go pick out shoes very well. Rash decisions for me are tough. I tell people all the time, my wife and I named our kids right off the bat. It was easy. I can't believe I named my first tour that easily. But it was all for the right reasons. I look back, and I think it's a perfect tour name. It's based on a song that really tells my life and my way of life, and I think that makes it all special."
