Jana Kramer has a new role to add to her acting resume: The singer is starring alongside Kevin McGarry -- and a pretty cute pup -- in the made-for-TV movie Love at First Bark.

In Love at First Bark, Kramer plays an interior designer named Julia Galvins who adopts a dog, only to find that the task of training him is more than she bargained for. Enter handsome dog trainer Owen Michaels, played by McGarry. As the two begin to spend more time together training Julia's new dog, and designing a puppy nursery and planning a joint puppy / baby shower fundraiser for a client, Julia begins to fall for her acquaintance. But, of course, things get complicated when Owen's ex-girlfriend enters the mix, and Julia must learn to stand up for what she wants.

"Julia realizes that her 'lead with love' approach she uses with her new dog — and with the rest of her life — isn’t working very well," says the film's online summary, noting that Love at First Bark finds Julia learning that "if she leads with confidence instead, the rest will fall into place."

Kramer has been bouncing between television and music for years; in fact, she began her career as an actress in 2002, before making the leap to music in 2012. Along with her starring role in the CW series One Tree Hill, Kramer has appeared on a number of other hit TV shows, such as Friday Night Lights, Entourage and Grey's Anatomy. Most recently, Kramer showed off her dancing skills during her time on ABC's Dancing With the Stars.

Of course, Kramer is best known to country fans thanks to her music. Her 2012 debut single "Why Ya Wanna" peaked at No. 3 on the charts, and Kramer has also been nominated for multiple awards; in 2013, she won an ACM for Top New Female Artist. The actress-turned-singer added yet another role to her life when she became a mother in 2016: Kramer welcomed her first child, Jolie Rae Caussin, on Jan. 31.

Love at First Bark will debut as part of the Hallmark Channel's "Spring Fling" lineup of original romantic comedies. The film will premiere on April 1 at 9PM CT.
