Reba McEntire remembered Dylan Carter, The Voice alum who died in a car accident over the weekend, with a powerful social media statement.

"We will miss Dylan so much," McEntire wrote in an Instagram Stories post featuring a picture of Carter.

"He was a brilliant, kind and talented young man who brought a huge ray of sunshine to The Voice," the singer continued. "Rest in peace, my dear friend."

Carter competed on Season 24 of The Voice. He earned a four-chair turn during the Blind Auditions with a performance of Whitney Houston's "I Look To You," which he sang in honor of his late mother.

Carter was a stand-out contestant for McEntire from the start. She was moved to tears by his audition performance.

"I love those songs, when you can take it spiritual or secular, either one. So much emotion, and I saw it and I felt it and I heard it when you were singing," she said during the taping, according to E! News.

McEntire acknowledged that the performance had stirred up an emotional response in her, and pointed out, "That's when you know you've got a great song and a great singer, when it touches your heart."
