Luke Bryan's Farm Tour made a stop in Elk Grove, Calif., earlier this month, bringing in over 20,000 fans to Mahon Ranch and carrying on its tradition of delivering a large-scale concert experience to fans in their hometowns.

But this concert was particularly special: It fulfilled a dying wish that fourth-generation rancher Tom Mahon says his wife made before she died.

How Did Luke Bryan's Farm Tour Concert Fulfill a Rancher's Wife's Dying Wish?

According to Local 12, Mahon said his wife Cindy, who died last September, told him she hoped to host a country concert on the ranch. Luke Bryan was among her favorite artists.

"About two weeks before she passed away, and she says, 'You know, it would be really neat if we could have a country Western concert here someday," Mahon recounts.

Cindy died at home, he goes on to say. "Her and I were watching TV and she made a funny noise and I looked over there and she had passed away," he explains.

No one on Luke Bryan's team was aware of the backstory when they got in touch to set up the concert, Mahon goes on to say, calling it "a pretty big coincidence."

He said the ranch has "branched out" into hosting entertainment events. "I got this random phone call asking if we would like to have a Luke Bryan concert here," the rancher adds. "...Got to believe that [Cindy] had something to do with this."
