Beyonce's highly-anticipated cover of Dolly Parton's hit song "Jolene" is a complete re-imagining of the song.

The events of the storyline are still intact, but she isn't playing around when it comes to another woman tying to steal her man.

To put it simply, she says, "don't try me."

In Parton's version, the narrator begs and pleads for Jolene to leave her man alone. She reasons with her, saying just because you can take him, doesn't mean you should.

Beyonce, on the other hand, knows Jolene's type and she's not afraid to take matters into her own hands if that's what it comes down to.

Here are the Lyrics to Beyonce's "Jolene" Cover:

Intro:

Jolene
Jolene

Chorus:

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene / I'm warnin’ you, don't come for my man (Jolene) / Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene / Don't take the chance because you think you can

Verse:

You’re beautiful, beyond compare / Takes more than beauty and seductive stares / To come between a family and a happy man / Jolene, I'm a woman too / Thе games you play are nothing new / So you don't want no hеat with me, Jolene / We've been deep in love for twenty years / I raised that man, I raised his kids / I know my man better than he knows himself (Yeah, what?) / I can easily understand / Why you're attracted to my man / But you don't want this smoke, so shoot your shot with someone else (You heard me)

Chorus"

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene / I'm warnin' you, woman, find you your own man / Jolene, I know I’m a queen, Jolene / I’m still a Creole banjee b---h from Louisianne (Don't try me)

Verse:

There’s a thousand girls in every room / That act as desperate as you do / You a bird, go on and sing your tune, Jolene (What?) / I had to have this talk with you / 'Cause I hate to have to act the fool / Your peace depends on how you move, Jolene

Bridge:

Me and my man crossed those valleys / Highs and lows and everything between / Good deeds roll in like tumblin' weeds / I sleep good, happy / 'Cause you can’t dig up our planted seeds / I know my man's gon' stand by me, breathin' in my gentle breeze (Ah) / I crossed those valleys / Highs and lows and everything between / Good deeds roll in like tumblin' weeds / Good and happy / 'Cause you can't dig up them planted seeds / Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene / I'ma stand by him, he will stand by me, Jolene

Outro:

I'ma stand by him, he gon' stand by me / I'ma stand by her, she gon' stand by me / I'ma stand by him, he gon' stand by me, Jolene

Is the Song "Jolene" Based on a True Story?

Parton says her version of "Jolene" is based on a real person who worked at the bank where Parton and her husband Carl lived.

"Well, the real story was about my husband," Parton recounts. "This girl who worked at the bank when we first got married. You know, this beautiful redhead. And he was spending more time at the bank than we had money. And I thought, 'Well, that ain't gonna work out too good!'"

Beyonce has yet to reveal the details about her vivid retelling of the story of Jolene. However, there could be some Easter eggs hidden in the lyrics: The narrator mentions she and her man have been together for 20 years. Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z have been married since 2008, but they began dating in 2001. Depending on when she conceptualized the song, it could very well be indicative of her relationship with Jay-Z.

Plus, being public figures with plenty of notoriety, it's not totally out of left field to think there could be several Jolene types looking to steal Beyonce's man.

"Jolene" is included on Beyonce's new country album, Cowboy Carter, which arrived on Friday, March 29.
