Hunter Hayes took a break from Carrie Underwood's Blown Away tour on Friday (Sept. 28) to stop by NBC's "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon." The two chatted about Hunter's escalating career, and the singer performed his No. 1 hit, "Wanted," while playing a baby grand piano. (Watch below.)

"I love doing Jimmy's show," Hunter tells The Boot. "It's such a blast. He has a show where anything goes, which I love. There's no pressure ... it's very much like doing your own show at a club. There's a fun vibe, and everyone's in a good mood at the show, especially him."

Hunter adds that the affable host is also hilarious. "And he loves music, so it's kind of fun to go back and forth and talk music with him for a while. It's always so much fun."

This was the young country star's second appearance on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" this year, and it won't be long before fans can see him on TV screens again -- this time a little earlier in the evening on the upcoming CMA Awards. The singer is nominated for New Artist of the Year, along with Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert, Love and Theft and Thompson Square.

"It's such an honor to be recognized by the family that I've grown up listening to and the artists I respect so much," Hunter says of his nomination. "The industry looks at you and says here's your nomination for an award that you've been wanting to achieve for along time. It's pretty cool; it's incredible."

Hunter continues on Carrie's Blown Away tour with a brief Canadian trek. Tonight (Mon, Oct. 1) finds them in Saskatoon, followed by Calgary (Tuesday, Oct. 2). Their final night north of the border Thursday (Oct. 4) in Vancouver. Keep track of Hunter's tour schedule here.
