Vince Gill has sold out his fair share of shows, but he no longer expects to play packed arenas. In fact, he says he's happy to perform for anybody these days! Noting that a lot has changed in the last ten years, Vince acknowledges that ticket sales aren't as easy as they used to be.

"We're at such a strange place with our country economically that it's kind of weird trying to get people to turn out: 'Hey, come spend your money and hear me sing,' " Vince tells the Journal Star. "I just want to tell people, if they can make it, that they'll have a good time. But if they can't, it's all good. It's funny how your viewpoint changes as you mature and get older. I used to walk out and be disappointed if the place wasn't full. Now I walk out and go, 'Hey, I'm just glad somebody's here.' "

Even with the dwindling crowds, that doesn't mean Vince slacks off on his performances. "It's as much about showing the people that pay their hard-earned money for a ticket a good time as it is to be self-indulgent and only sing what you want to sing," he says. "It's always trying to strike that right chord, the right combination of familiar stuff and something that's new that they might like."

With more than 26 million albums sold, as well as countless awards including 19 Grammys, Vince still has plenty of people anxious to hear him sing. Just as he is anxious to go out and listen to some of his own favorites. "I've been a lover of music my whole life, all kinds of music," he says. "I had Merle Haggard records as a kid, I had Led Zeppelin records ... I like them all. I found something that I loved about most any kind of music."
