Tim McGraw Debuts New Song on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’
Tim McGraw revealed a new song off of his upcoming album on Feb. 19 on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.'
McGraw performed 'Shotgun Rider' during Fallon's first week as the new host of 'The Tonight Show,' which McGraw says wasn't an accident.
“I thought since it’s Jimmy’s first week we should give his audience something they can’t get anywhere else,” he says (quote via Taste of Country). “It’s been a great week for the show already, and I’m honored Jimmy invited me to the party!”
'Shotgun Rider' is also the name of another song that McGraw released with his wife Faith Hill on his 2007 album 'Let It Go.' The new tune hints toward the duet, saying that he never wants someone else to be riding shotgun.
“I don’t ever want to wake up / Lookin’ into someone else’s eyes / Another voice callin’ me baby / On the other end of the phone / A new girl putting on her makeup / Before dinner on a Friday night / No, I don’t ever want no other shotgun rider beside me / Singing to the radio,” McGraw sings.
In addition to performing on the show, McGraw played a few rounds of charades with Fallon and other guests Emma Thompson and Bradley Cooper. McGraw gave Fallon a hard time about the game, joking that he wanted a better partner than the show's host.
'Shotgun Rider' will be featured on McGraw's next album, which is due out later this year. He will be heading out on the Sundown Heaven Town 2014 Tour in May.
