Thompson Square, ChildFund International Pairing Will Help Kids in Need All Over the World

Thompson Square's Keifer and Shawna Thompson have found a way to entertain their fans this year and help some deserving kids halfway around the world at the same time. The duo have teamed up with ChildFund International to help educate audiences at their 2012 concert dates about the child development and protection agency and the work it does worldwide on behalf of needy children.

The cause is obviously near and dear to both Shawna and Keifer's hearts, as they have sponsored an Indonesian girl through ChildFund themselves. They've also volunteered to give away an autographed copy of their debut CD to every fan who visits the ChildFund booth at their shows and signs up to sponsor a child. The two are also appearing in a video for ChildFund that will play at each show, explaining the difference each person can make in the life of a child by joining the cause. The video clip is set to the music of their brand new single, 'Glass,' which is currently making its way up the charts.

"We've personally sponsored an adorable little girl named Lady from Indonesia and hope to make a difference in her life," says Shawna.

"When we learned about the amazing work ChildFund International does to help children on a global scale, we knew immediately that we wanted to be involved and figure out a way that we could contribute," adds Keifer.

The husband and wife team have been dealing with some tough heartbreak of their own recently since the death of Shawna's father, George Michael 'Mickey' McIlwain, from cancer late last month. They recently returned to the road following the loss, and in a recent tweet, Shawna thanked New Orleans for helping ease the pain a little, noting she has a personal connection with the Crescent City.

"New Orleans, we couldn't have had a better city to host us for our first show back. You're where my Dad was born," Shawna tweeted to fans after their performance in New Orleans with Lady Antebellum on March 2. The two will travel to Las Vegas next month for the ACM Awards, where they're nominated for the ACM Top Vocal Duo of the Year.
