The Band Perry are undoubtedly still reveling in their success at last week's CMA Awards, when the members of the sibling trio took home three trophies, for Best New Artist and Single and Song of the Year for their mega-hit, 'If I Die Young,' written by lead singer Kimberly Perry. But the 28-year-old lead singer isn't resting on her laurels just yet. Instead, she's more focused than ever on continuing to churn out hits that resonate with herself, her brothers Neil and Reid, and their adoring fans.

"We are in full force writing for album number two and really excited about the songs that are being born right now," Kimberly reveals to Billboard. "We've gotten to experience a wide variety of new things over the last two years. One thing that I'm so proud of already is everything rings 100 percent true. Every line that we're writing and singing is something that we feel deep down in our gut."

The young entrepreneurs broke tradition when they opted to start their own publishing company instead of going with a major publishing deal, as is customary, but the three singer-songwriters say the decision made sense for them.

"We finished recording the first seven sides [of our debut album] and were passing it around to everybody in town," Kimberly recalls. "We ended up having three label offers on the table, and once the label deals were on the table, then the publishing deals came. At that point, it didn't seem to make sense because we had already recorded our music and we had label intentions so we were like, 'Why don't we just hang onto it?'"

Clearly, with 'If I Die Young' selling more than three million copies, the deal paid off very well for the threesome. Still, Kimberly isn't at all worried about following the success of the hit tune. "That song had its place and it did what it needed to do," she reasons. "I always feel like songs come to us when we need them to. I don't know where we'd be without 'If I Die Young.' Every artist has to have that point of introduction, and whatever song we need next will come to us when it's meant to. We're going to try to stay open and available and keep our ears bent to the wind and see what comes in our direction."

The Band Perry are spending most of their time on the road, dividing days between serving as an opening act on Reba McEntire's All the Women I Am trek and headlining their own Purveyors of Perfomance tour. Keep track of their schedule here.
