Once again, Taylor Swift has reminded us why she's one of the world's sweetest superstars.

Houston's ABC Eyewitness News reports that Huntsville, Texas, resident Amber Van Riper and her 7-year-old-son Jonathan were driving northeast of town when their car crossed the center line and struck an oncoming pickup truck. Among the first responders to the emergency was Aaron Van Riper, assistant chief of the Thomas Lake Volunteer Fire Department -- who didn't know that the victims were his wife and son until he arrived at the scene.

Jonathan suffered a broken arm and leg and has been released from the hospital, but Amber underwent nine hours of surgery on Sunday (June 7) because her pelvis and back were broken in five places. The family doesn't have medical insurance, so a GoFundMe page has been started to help raise money to defray Amber and Jonathan's medical costs. And among the more than $110,000 raised so far, there is a $15,000 donation from none other than Taylor Swift. (Billboard has confirmed that the money is, in fact, from Swift.)

“JJ Watt, Taylor Swift. This is some big stuff that I’m not really used to,” Aaron Van Riper says. “Fifteen thousand dollars ... people don’t just do that. I would like to thank her.”

Swift  is currently out on the road, on her 1989 World Tour. A list of all of her upcoming shows is available on her website.
