Tim McGraw

Tim McGraw was born in Louisiana to his mother, Betty, who raised him with his stepfather, Horace Smith. When he was 11, McGraw found out that his biological father was professional baseball player Tug McGraw, which explained his affinity for the sport; he attended Northeast Louisiana University (now the University of Louisiana at Monroe) on a baseball scholarship, but he also learned to play guitar during college. McGraw quit school and moved to Nashville, Tenn., in 1989, on the day his hero, Keith Whitley, died. He released his first album in 1993 but didn't score his first hit until the following year; it was "Indian Outlaw," from his sophomore disc. McGraw began dating now-wife Faith Hill when she was serving as his opening act on 1996's Spontaneous Combustion Tour, and the two married later that year. The country superstar has also appeared in several movies, including 'Friday Night Lights', 'Country Strong' and 'The Blind Side.'
