Shooter Jennings has announced a very special run of tour dates to kick off the new year. The singer-songwriter is teaming up with his father's legendary band for the very first time.

Waymore's Outlaws backed Waylon Jennings both live and in the studio, and though the younger Jennings -- whose mother is Jessi Colter -- has carried on his father’s outlaw tradition by releasing a series of genre-defying albums that keep him well outside the confines of the traditional music business model, he has never before played with the musicians who worked with Waylon.

"This is the first collaboration between Shooter and the band, and it may be the last," a press release states. "You don't want to miss this historic event!"

The string of dates kicks off Saturday (Jan. 4) in Louisville, Ky., and runs through Jan. 31, wrapping up with a show in Texas.

Jennings has also recently released a slew of musical projects, both new and retrospective.

Black Country Records Nashville teamed up with Justice Records to re-release Waylon's 1996 album, 'Right for the Time,' in a variety of formats, transferred directly from the original reel-to-reel tapes in order to capture the true intent of the original recording.

Shooter's other famous parent is the subject of 'Jessi Colter Live at Cain's Ballroom,' which captures the iconic singer at a 2013 live gig in Tulsa, Okla. for her first-ever live album, on which Shooter joins her for a few songs.

Jennings also collaborated with fellow modern-day outlaw Jamey Johnson and Marilyn Manson bassist Twiggy Ramirez for 'You Are My Sunshine,' a very different take on one of the best-known songs in the world. It is backed with 'There Is No Sunshine,' a 13-minute sound collage that "takes the listener on a dark ride into the subconscious using many methods of sub sonic sound synthesis."

Finally, Jennings recently released 'The Other Live,' his sophomore live album, which he recorded over the summer and fall of 2013. The project brings together tracks spanning his entire career.
