Reba and Darius Rucker Light Up ‘A Capitol Fourth’
The White House has long been a faithful supporter of country music, inviting artists such as Brad Paisley, Alison Krauss, Faith Hill, Emmylou Harris and others to perform at various special events and functions throughout the year. And now, as the nation celebrates our 234th birthday, two country-music favorites will join the celebration.
Reba McEntire and Darius Rucker are slated to appear on 'A Capitol Fourth,' the annual July 4 concert held on the west lawn of the Capitol and televised on PBS. Also appearing will be legendary singer Gladys Knight, Season 7 'American Idol' finalist David Archuleta and the National Symphony Orchestra.
Other country artists taking part in Independence Day celebrations include Trace Adkins who's headlining Nashville's 'Music City July 4: Let Freedom Sing!' celebration, LeAnn Rimes, who'll be performing on Macy's annual televised 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular, Willie Nelson who hosts his star-studded 'Backyard Summer Picnic' and Charlie Daniels, who's set to take the helm of America's Opry Weekend 'Star-Spangled Special.'
'A Capitol Fourth,' celebrating it's 30th anniversary on the air, will also include a 17-minute fireworks display. The special airs at 8:00 ET on PBS.
