Ray Stevens may have been around the country music industry for a long time, but he says he's a big fan of some of the more modern country that has been released in recent years.

"Well you know, it's not like the old traditional country used to be, but change is inevitable and, you know, if people like it, that's great!" he says. "I think it sounds a lot like old rock and roll."

While modern country can sometimes get a bad rap for sounding too much like pop music, Stevens says that there's room for a little bit of everything.

"I appreciate all kinds of music. Listen, some of the new talent we've got today are fabulous. They're so talented and I just think that you can't hardly go wrong," he says. "You know, there's 12 notes. That's it. And you can use those 12 notes all kinds 'a different ways and, you know, I don't think there's probably a bad way to use them."

There are a few artists in particular that Stevens enjoys.

"There's so many people out there, you know. Antebellum, is it Lady Antebellum? I think they're wonderful. I think Alison Krauss is wonderful," he says. "Gosh, you know, great talent out there."
