Rascal Flatts are among several country stars who will star in feature roles in the upcoming HBO Civil War series, 'To Appomattox.' The band is also producing the soundtrack for the eight-hour event, including original material, as well as fresh interpretations of traditional songs from the Civil War era.

Also playing roles of real Americans who were involved on both sides of the Civil War will be Kix Brooks, Dwight Yoakam and Laura Bell Bundy, all of whom will be joining Rascal Flatts on the soundtrack. Five for Fighting's John Ondrasik also lends his incomparable voice to a song on the compilation.

Rascal Flatts announced in June this year that they would be appearing in the series, which focuses on the final battle fought during the American Civil War on the morning of April 9, 1865. The battle ended the war when General Robert E. Lee surrendered to General Ulysses S. Grant.

'To Appomattox' will feature 'Dexter''s Michael C. Hall as General Grant and former 'CSI' star William Petersen as General Sherman.
