It’s only been a little over a year since Rascal Flatts released their latest album, ‘Changed,’ but the trio say they are already getting ready to release a new set of tunes for their fans.

“We are listening to some rough mixes,” lead singer Gary LeVox reveals to Broadway’s Electric Barnyard. “Jay and Joe Don are still putting some vocals on, and we’ve still got some work to do, but we couldn’t be more exited about the new album. I am not sure when it’s going to come out. Maybe fourth quarter.”

Flatts, who relied on producer Dann Huff to produce their last several CDs, called on rock producer Howard Benson -- whose eclectic credits include Kelly Clarkson, Papa Roach and Santana -- to helm this project instead.  "Howard’s well known in the rock world, and we’ve been in the studio for the past three months,"Jay DeMarcus explains to Cleveland.com. "It’s nothing against Dann, it’s just that we’ve done five or six records and it’s just time to have a different perspective."

The threesome certainly won’t have much time to work on the upcoming CD. They are spending much of the summer on the road on their Live & Loud tour, with the Band Perry and Cassadee Pope serving as their opening acts. They wrapped up several shows in Europe earlier this month, and will cross the country, including stops in California, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire, before the trek wraps up in October.
