Randy Houser is hoping the third time is the charm. The Mississippi native, whose last two singles, 'How Country Feels' and 'Runnin' Outta Moonlight,' soared to the top of the charts, has just released his third single, 'Goodnight Kiss,' from his latest album.

“On the same day that I found the songs ‘Top of the World’ and ‘Runnin' Outta Moonlight’ (the day before the last day of recording this record), we wrote ‘Goodnight Kiss,’” Houser recalls in a press release. “We all remember those dates when we’d pick up the girl and pretty much we’d have to go through the whole routine of the movie, and the dinner, and riding around, and all ... all before we could ever get to the goodnight kiss. I finally had the epiphany that you can start with the goodnight kiss and just really never go do any of that other stuff, and I thought well hell, nobody’s ever written about that yet!"

Houser, who wrote the tune with Jason Sellers and Rob Hatch, says his songwriting has changed since welcoming son West into the world last year. “There’s certain things as a songwriter that I don’t really care to write about and there are certain things I won’t sing about anymore,” Houser tells The Boot. “There are just so many things that I probably thought was OK for me, or have been in the past, that I would never want my son to think was OK. You start checking yourself a little bit and that definitely has affected my songwriting."

Houser will juggle fatherhood with his time on the road this fall, including shows in Maryland and New York later this month. See all of his upcoming shows here.
