It's been five years since Phil Vassar released a new record, but the singer has announced that he'll have a new album coming out soon.

"Finally new music, yeah," he tells Broadway's Electric Barnyard. "I've got a new record, I'm actually mixing the deal right now ... It's finally time to get back out and do some new music, and I'm excited about it."

The 'Just Another Day in Paradise' singer isn't giving up much information about the album, saying he couldn't give a hint as to what major label would be releasing it, but he did give some indication as to what the new release might sound like -- and it may not be music to all of his fans' ears.

"I love the new stuff, tailgate music and Daisy Dukes and all that stuff," he says, "so it's going to be good songs."

Vassar last released a new, non-holiday disc in December 2009. He released a Christmas album and a greatest hits record both in 2011, as well as a single, 'Love is Alive,' in 2013.
