Canadian-based group Petunia & the Vipers are revealing their song "Lou Lou" exclusively to readers of The Boot.

Trust us when we say this: "Lou Lou" is different than anything you've ever heard. Petunia & the Vipers are known for fusing Latin rhythms, country blues, gypsy jazz, beat poetry and rockabilly sounds -- not exactly something you come across every day. And this song specifically, lead singer Petunia tells The Boot, is "a tale of [a] drug deal gone bad ... told in French and English" featuring "African-styled melodies, yodeling and [a] zydeco-type high-paced warp groove."

This non-conventional track is multi-layered, and it's sung with an intensity and speed that makes you wonder how in the world Petunia forms his words that quickly. Readers can press play below to hear it.

"Lou Lou" comes from Petunia & the Vipers' forthcoming new record, Dead Bird on the Highway, set for release on May 20. The disc features 14 tracks and is the group's most eclectic project to date; their songs are about living life on your own terms -- fearlessly and without regret -- and that theme also shows itself sonically, offering listeners something 100 percent unique.

Petunia & the Vipers formed a few years ago, and thus far, they've toured down the West Coast and in the U.K. and Ireland. They're currently on the road in support of their new record, with shows scheduled through mid-August. For more information on upcoming show dates, visit their official website.
