Old Dominion's first single off of their upcoming self-titled debut EP highlights the witty lyrics and country rock/pop sound that the band is sure to become known for.

'Shut Me Up' is about a hopeless romantic who won't quit talking about his girl until she kisses him to shut him up. The idea isn't the most original, but the five-piece Nashville-based group breathes new life into it with their lyrics and musicality.

I can’t get you off the tip of my tongue / You’re running through my head again / Like one of those summer singalong songs / I play you once and you get stuck and then / I’m either talking about you or thinking about you / Or running my mouth about being without you to all my friends.

Old Dominion may be a fairly new group, but band members have written songs for some of the biggest acts in country music, including the Band Perry, Keith Urban, Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley.

'Old Dominion' is set for release on Oct. 7. 'Shut Me Up' is available for download on iTunes.
