Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry, who make up the award-winning country duo Montgomery Gentry, haven't slowed down a bit since announcing their departure from their record label, Sony Music, last fall. The guys kicked off their weekend with a performance at the Grand Ole Opry, before getting on a plane on Sunday (January 23) to head to the Far East for their second USO tour.

"We couldn't be more excited to start our year with a visit to the Opry and this USO trip to entertain our troops," Troy writes on the duo's website. "We understand on a much smaller level what it is like to be away from our families and our homes. If we can bring a little bit of home to our heroes serving overseas, then we're all for it."

The pair posted a new update on their website right before hitting the skies for their long flight. "It's 3:00 AM, and time to head out on our second USO trip," they added. "We have a 15 hour flight to South Korea ahead of us, then a bunch of American heroes to meet and play concerts for ... See ya on the other side of the world!!"

The pair are undoubtedly in an excellent mood, thanks to Eddie's recent announcement of being declared cancer-free, after undergoing surgery for prostate cancer in December. While he was undoubtedly fearful of the initial diagnosis, he predicted -- correctly -- a positive start to the new year. "I will be back in January ready to rock for all the fans!" he promised before the surgery.

The pair will play their next state-side show on February 16, in Anchorage, Alaska. Keep track of their schedule here.
