Reigning Female Vocalist of the Year champ Miranda Lambert asserted her support for women in country music backstage at the 2018 ACM Awards, after taking home the trophy for both Female Vocalist of the Year as well as Song of the Year for her hit, "Tin Man."

Lambert accepted her Female Vocalist of the Year award for the ninth consecutive year in a row on Sunday night (April 15) with a simple speech thanking her fans, explaining that she would never take the support for granted, and ending with a brief, "Praise Jesus! Thank y'all." After the show, Lambert acknowledged the other contenders within the category, particularly Carrie Underwood, whose live debut of the new single, "Cry Pretty," that evening marked the singer's return to the stage after suffering a serious fall in in 2017.

In the ACMs press room, according to Rolling Stone, Lambert pointed out Underwood's strength as an artist and as a person. "She's one of the greatest singers of all time in any genre of music, and can sing me under the table," Lambert explains. "I say that every time and will continue to say that, but I'm just proud of her and I know how strong she is and how hard she's worked."

On Sunday night, Lambert became the most-awarded artist in ACM history after landing her award for Song of the Year. Even before the latest ceremony, she had held the record for solo act with the most wins. She was tied with Brooks & Dunn with 29 awards, but the 2018 ceremony earned the country singer not only her 30th, but also her 31st ACM trophy, upon winning the Female Vocalist of the Year award as well. In response to the milestone, Lambert pointed out the many artists -- especially female artists -- who paved the way for her to achieve this historical win.

"It's a lot of pressure, but I know it's so important I keep the attitude I have," Lambert added. "It's why I'm standing here right now. It's because of the amazing women that have stood here before."
