Christian singer Michael W. Smith has announced the release of a Christmas album featuring some of country music's favorite singers.

'Michael W. Smith & Friends: The Spirit of Christmas' is set for release on Sept. 30 and includes duets with Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Little Big Town, Lady Antebellum, Jennifer Nettles and Vince Gill as well as appearances from Bono and Michael McDonald.

"I think Nashville is home to some of the most talented people on Earth," Smith tells Rolling Stone Country. "To get to sing with artists like Carrie Underwood, Lady A, Michael McDonald -- really, everyone on this album -- was such an honor."

This is the fourth holiday album put out by Smith, who produced the release with David Hamilton and Robert Deaton.

“This is the most unique and unusual record I’ve ever done in my 31-year career. The entire record was sequenced together before we recorded one song,” Smiths says on his website. “Sonically you’re hearing me in a way that you’ve probably never heard me before. At one point it’s like Smitty meets Bublé. There’s my granddaughter’s voice singing the song from ‘Home Alone,’ plus the whole orchestral and symphonic feeling of Christmas, mixed together with all these amazing voices and guests -- yet it all fits together in a remarkable way.”

Smith will be going on tour to support the release of the album this fall. A list of upcoming tour dates can be found here. Preorder the album at MichaelWSmith.com.
