Melodime, ‘Little Thing Called Love’ [Exclusive Premiere]
Melodime are exclusively premiering a new single, "Little Thing Called Love," on The Boot. The upbeat song is catchy, lyrically strong -- and perfect to listen to with the windows down during the summertime months.
Melodime, comprised of Brad Rhodes (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Sammy Duis (piano, organ, bass), Tyler Duis (drums) and Jon Wiley (background vocals, guitar, mandolin, dobro), are determined to get their fans' attention with "Little Thing Called Love." Though any listener can relate to it, the track was written for a few people in particular: Melodime's own loved ones.
"As a band that spends a large portion of our time playing music on the road, there's no doubt that the saying 'distance makes the heart grow fonder' rings remarkably true in our lives," Rhodes says. "When we look at that lifestyle from an optimistic viewpoint, we learn that we get to re-live that adage over and over again. That's always been the silver lining to me, and "Little Thing Called Love" is the tune we wrote to capture that gift."
The song's chorus is fast-paced, as Rhodes sings, "It's a kiss, it's a fight, it's a keepsake / It's a shame when it makes your heart break / It's the breath in my lungs that your eyes take / When you look at me / It's the God up above that we pray to / It's the chill in my skin when I touch you / It's the promise we vow not to undo / It's what we're all made of / A little thing called love."
"Stylistically, it's a solid representation of where our music is heading," Melodime say of "Little Thing Called Love." "It's about that common thread that holds everything together -- through our struggles, through our despair, through our longing."
"Little Thing Called Love," produced by Rick Beato (Parmalee, NeedToBreathe) at Black Dog Sound in Stone Mountain, Ga., will officially be released on Friday (June 3). Then, Melodime will head out on a 24-date summer headlining run; the trek is set to kick off on June 11 in Falls Church, Va., and run through July 22.
