Mavis Staples won the 2016 Grammy Awards Best American Roots Performance award, for the song "See That My Grave Is Kept Clean."

Staples was not at the pre-telecast Premiere Ceremony, so the Recording Academy accepted the award on her behalf.

Other Best American Roots Performance nominees included Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn's "And Am I Born to Die"; Buddy Guy's "Born to Play Guitar"; the Milk Carton Kids' "City of Our Lady"; and the Punch Brothers' "Julep."

"See That My Grave Is Kept Clean" is on Staples' album Your Good Fortune, available for download on Amazon.
