Martina McBride and her husband, John McBride, have been married 24 years and have three daughters. The couple's strong union is one for which both continue to be grateful. "I'm not a religious guy, but I always felt God put us together," John told The Boot. "It's crazy. I'd never had that feeling before. This girl, she's incredible and I love her more [now] than I ever have. I told her, 'If we could bottle what we have, we could retire, girl.' We're so lucky."

One of Martina's most popular songs in concert, the emotional ballad "I'm Gonna Love You Through It," features powerful lyrics about a woman facing cancer. But Martina often finds herself relating to another character in the song.

"When I sing the song and really connect with it, it is through the husband," the songstress told Taste of Country. "It's through that chorus that says 'When you're weak, I'll be strong.' I feel like that's such a powerful message and it's just something that I think is so beautiful."

Even though Martina often tackles songs with important social themes, such as "A Broken Wing" and "God's Will," she insists she doesn't seek them out just because of their subject matter. "I never ever go out looking for a specific kind of song or a specific issue," she notes. "I don't know why they find me."

The country superstar is using her voice to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research this fall, through the Save Lids to Save Lives program, sponsored by General Mills. "I like it because it's one I can do with my kids," she explains. "I think we all search for ways to be engaged and to give back and have little projects that they're a part of and this is a great way to make that online time something productive."

Save Lids to Save Lives allows consumers to donate 10 cents from each item with a pink lid to their local Susan G. Komen chapter. More information can be found here.

Martina will spend much of the next several months on the road. Her One Night tour wraps Nov. 8, and she'll embark on her Joy of Christmas tour two weeks later. In 2013, Martina will join George Strait on his final tour, dubbed the Cowboy Rides Away. The trek begins Jan. 18 in Lubbock, Texas. Keep track of Martina's tour schedule here.
