Most country music fans know that Martina McBride is a huge advocate of cancer awareness and a major force in the fight against cancer, but the singer will be doing even more to raise awareness and funds thanks to a new partnership.

At CRS 2016, McBride announced Band Against Cancer, a new cancer awareness initiative in partnership with Sarah Cannon, the global cancer institute of Hospital Corporation of America (HCA). As part of the effort, McBride and other top-notch artists will hit the road on the Sarah Cannon Tour, which will benefit several charitable cancer support organizations.

Most of the details for the Sarah Cannon Tour have yet to be announced, but McBride did reveal that the trek will travel through several key cities in the U.S. and conclude in October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, at the Grand Ole Opry. At each concert, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in Band Against Cancer through special on-site activities.

“Helping families who are facing cancer has always been a cause that is near and dear to my heart,” says McBride. “I’m honored to be the voice that connects these individuals and their families with a fully committed team of cancer experts. Together with Sarah Cannon, this means each person can fight cancer where they get their greatest strength, in their own communities, with their own band of support.”

The initial focus of the Band Against Cancer campaign will be on those fighting blood cancer. Approximately every three minutes, one person in the U.S. is diagnosed with blood cancer, but unfortunately, 70 percent of all blood cancer patients in need of a transplant do not have a matched donor in their family.

“We have learned that when we bring cause and music together, we’re able to cut through the media noise and bring very important messages to a greater number of people," adds President and CEO of Big Machine Label Group Scott Borchetta. "The sum is so much greater than the parts, and it’s defined in our new relationship with Sarah Cannon ... [W]e are honored to join them in spreading the message and reaching the greatest number of people possible with Martina McBride and other great BMLG artists and their music.”

Fans can join the Band Against Cancer movement on BandAgainstCancer.com. By signing up, you'll be kept abreast of artist additions, tour dates and other details.

In addition to this new partnership, McBride is also working on a new album. She premiered a new single, "Reckless," at a recent concert.
