Maddie & Tae performed "Girl in a Country Song" at the 2015 CMA Awards. The song is from their freshman Start Here album.

The duo, made up of Maddie Marlow and Taylor Dye, sang the hit single with just their guitars, which they said was exactly the way they wanted to perform during the live televised broadcast.

"“It’s what we’re all about," Marlow tells The Boot. "We spent four years together, playing, just us and our guitars, so it feels like home whenever we’re that stripped down.”

Maddie & Tae won a CMA Award earlier in the evening for Music Video of the Year, for "Girl in a Country Song." They were also nominated for Vocal Duo of the Year, with the award going to Florida Georgia Line. The girls seemed calm, cool and collected during their performance, but they acknowledged they were anxious about their big night.

“We would fall to the ground with any of them,” Dye said of their CMA Award nods. “I’m gonna be a hot mess that night.”
“It’s insane how involved we are,” Marlow added. “To be accepted the way we have been is incredible.”

Start Here debuted at No. 2 on the Country Albums chart at No. 9 on the all-genre chart. Download the album on iTunes.
