Maddie & Tae's freshman album, Start Here, was originally slated to be released on June 2, but its release was postponed until Aug. 28. However, Maddie Marlow and Tae Dye say the delay is nothing to worry about; they pushed the album's release date back to make sure everything was just right.

"We had to push it back because we wanted everything to be perfect, down to the music and artwork and everything," Marlow tells Rolling Stone Country. "Our team got a little too anxious thinking we could make the [original] release date, and the only way we could get it exactly the way we wanted was to push it back."

Start Here will include Maddie & Tae's first single, "Girl in a Country Song," which also became their first No. 1 song, as well as their second single, "Fly." Marlow and Dye co-wrote those two songs and the rest of the record's tracks, which makes them that much more anxious to share the disc with their fans.

"We're just ready for it to be finally released and hear people's opinions and critiques," Dye says. "We've been working really hard on it because we want to make a great first impression to the world. It's like our first-born child."

While they count down the days until Start Here is released, they will have plenty to keep them busy. Maddie & Tae scored an opening slot on Dierks Bentley‘s 2015 Sounds of Summer Tour, along with Kip Moore and Canaan Smith.

“Maddie and I are still pretty new to all that game, even though we have been together for five years, so we’re just excited to kind of soak all that in,” Dye notes. “Dierks, Kip and Canaan are all like our big brothers, and we’ve been having a lot of fun with pranking. We’re kind of excited to see how that continues throughout the tour.”

Start Here is currently available for pre-order via iTunes.
