Luke Bryan has a tough act to follow ... himself! The Georgia native is hard at work writing and recording material for his next studio album, the follow-up to his wildly successful sophomore disc, 'Doin' My Thing.'

"I'm writing now and have been working a lot, trying to write as many new songs as we can," Luke tells The Boot. "Hopefully we can top this previous album with this new album that will be coming out."

It won't be easy to top. Luke's latest album produced his first No. 1 single, 'Rain Is a Good Thing,' as well as the No. 2 hit, 'Do I,' which he co-wrote with Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood. His current single, 'Someone Else Calling You Baby,' is Top 10 and rising. And he has two new awards on his mantle thanks to the project -- the ACM Top New Solo vocalist trophy and CMT award for Breakthrough Video of the Year (for 'Do I'). So, with all of the success of his second album, Luke knows he shouldn't (pardon the cliché) reinvent the wheel for his third.

"Things will be the same, but it will obviously be different in some ways, too," he explains. "I think the main thing is stick to what got you here, but also show some growth. People want to see a little bit of growth. I don't want to change too much. I've worked hard to brand what I've got going on, if that's anything. I want to try to keep that going, that way people can kind of know what they're getting when they go buy an album."

Look for Luke on the road with Rascal Flatts for the first part of the year, before linking up with Tim McGraw on the Emotional Traffic tour, which kicks off on March 7 in Houston, Texas.
