Lee Brice Experiences Life Again and Again Through His Songs
Lee Brice has written literally thousands of songs, and while some tunes may still be as powerful as the day he wrote them, he finds others can give him a new perspective. One song in particular still affects him in just the same way as when he wrote it several years ago.
"With 'More Than a Memory [a No. 1 for Garth Brooks in 2007], I still feel the same way every single time I sing that song, the same exact way," Lee tells The Boot. "But also, I was just listening back through some demos the other day, I've got 3, 4, 500 songs piled away that I've written over the last 10 years. I was listening to one -- I remember when I wrote it, I had nothing in mind, just kind of making it up from ... how I would be. But I've had experiences in my life since then -- this is probably five years ago I wrote this song -- and even [with] stuff that's going on in my life right now, it feels like I wrote that song for this exact thing."
Lee is riding high on the country charts with his current single, 'Love Like Crazy,' the title track from his debut album. The disc, which the New York Times recently hailed as "a fantastically muscular album of rootsy power country," is in stores now.
