Every March, country radio stations descend upon Nashville for the Country Radio Seminar, a week full of live music and industry meetings. A highlight of the event, for radio programmers and artists alike, is the New Faces show at the seminar's conclusion. The 2011 performers will be Lee Brice, Jerrod Niemann, the Band Perry, Steel Magnolia and Josh Thompson.

Buddies Lee and Jerrod are looking forward to sharing the stage. "He's one of my great friends," Lee tells The Boot of the 'Lover Lover' singer. "I'm out with him on our Higher Education tour all spring. It's going to be awesome."

As part of a time-honored New Faces tradition, each artist makes a video -- normally spoofing themselves or or a fellow country star -- to air before their performances. Since Lee and Jerrod are both on the show, we asked if they'll try to one-up each other on their respective videos. "We don't have a competition, because I'm not even going to try and be funnier than Jerrod Niemann; he's hilarious," Lee says with a laugh. "In fact, he had a great idea. Lady Antebellum spoofed me this year with 'Love Like Crazy'; they did a song called 'Biscuits and Gravy.' Jerrod had a great idea of us getting together and spoofing them back ... But we've been busy, so now we have a new idea, but I can't tell ya that."

Since Lee's been releasing songs for the past several years, you're not the only one who is confused about how he's still considered a "New Face." "For two or three years I had Top 30s and I'm thinking, 'God, why can't I get on that show?'" Lee admits. "But, you've got to have a certain whatever before they invite you. Anyway, I was there last year and Randy Houser was on it. I was going, 'Randy's been around two years, why is he just now a New Face?'"

The answer didn't take Lee too long to figure out, though. "It's where every radio station in the country is there to see 'new faces,' and to them 'new faces' means, 'these are the guys who mattered this year, whether it's new or not,'" Lee says. "I'm happy to be in that category this year. You get 200 radio stations there and they're going, 'He made a difference this year, and he just kicked a-- on stage. We love him. We'll go play his records.' It's all about getting your record played and having more people hear you."

Lee and Jerrod head out on their Higher Education tour March 10 in Columbia, Mo. The trek runs through April 28, ending in Live Oak, Fla. Find a full list of their tour dates here.
