Lee Brice's life is a lot more complicated than it used to be, but he wouldn't have it any other way. The singer-songwriter, who just celebrated his second No. 1 hit with "Hard to Love," is juggling his music career and time with family, which includes his fiancée, Sarah, and their 4-year-old son, Takoda. Fitting it all in, he admits, can be a difficult balancing act.

"It's a whole new challenge in my life," Lee told The Boot and other reporters at a recent media event. "It used to be music and just music. That was it. Now, it's another whole thing. It's difficult, but I thrive on challenges. I've always been that guy that won't tell you you can't do something. Sometimes Sarah gets discouraged, and the first thing I want to do is figure out how to fix that, and we have been. It's just an everyday process, learning how to do it."

Lee has had his Halloween trick-or-treating plans set for a while now. Oct. 31 is a non-negotiable date his family shares every year.

"To Sarah, Halloween is one of the most important holidays. She loves it," the singer-songwriter explains. "That's something I wouldn't book anything around. That's really, really important. Those are the times that I remember, that were really special. I have to miss a lot of times [but] I don't want to miss those, especially. So, we'll definitely be trick-or-treating."

The singer says he's just learning to make time for the things that mean the most to him. "I have to say no sometimes to things that I might get to do for my career," he notes. "I just have to be able to say, 'No, that's not as important as going trick-or-treating,' and that's just the bottom line. Hopefully I'm getting better at that ... figuring out what my priorities are."

One night after trick-or-treating, Lee heads to the CMA Awards, where he's nominated for New Artist of the Year. The 46th Annual CMA Awards air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on Thursday at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
