Country's loudest night got kicked off with a bang by Lady Antebellum, who opened the 2015 CMT Music Awards by collaborating with EDM artist Zedd.

The trio strutted on stage and immediately launched into their current single, "Long Stretch of Love," and it was the perfect performance to begin the awards show: The crowd responded enthusiastically, and a huge assortment of colors and lights added extra oomph to their already powerful performance.

Halfway through the song, Charles Kelley said, "Let's make a big Nashville welcome to Zedd!" The artist appeared from behind the stage's giant screen, and the trio launched into his song "Beautiful Now" before circling back into "Long Stretch of Love."

Though it's unexpected, an EDM/country collaboration really got the show off to the right start. As Hillary Scott said before the performance, “It’s definitely different, but it’s fun!”

Kelley added, “We just wanted to try something different. It’s fun to take yourselves out of your comfort zone, and the CMTs have always done that for us.”

Lady A are nominated in three categories at the 2015 CMT Music Awards, including Video of the Year, for "Bartender." They're currently on tour to support their latest album, 747.
