Kenny Chesney will be honored with the BMI President's Award at the 2016 BMI Country Awards in November.

The 64th annual BMI Country Awards, which recognize the genre's top songwriter, publisher and songs, are set to take place on Nov. 1 at BMI's Nashville office. Chesney will be presented with the President's Award by BMI President and CEO Mike O'Neil and BMI Vice President of Writer / Publisher Relations in Nashville Jody Williams. The honor is reserved for songwriters who, according to BMI, "have distinctly and profoundly influenced the entertainment industry." Past recipients of the award include Willie Nelson and Brooks & Dunn.

“Kenny Chesney is first and foremost a songwriter,” says Williams. “Not only has he earned the respect of the songwriting community, but he has also developed into a top-notch recording artist who re-wrote the concert touring experience by selling out stadiums year after year. He is a friend to up-and-coming artists and songwriters and is as inspiring as he is talented. It is time to salute him for a career that has brought so much to so many, and is far from over.”

In addition to his 28 No. 1 hits, Chesney has received eight Entertainer of the Year Awards, a CMA Award for Album of the Year and ACM Awards for Top Male Vocalist and Single of the Year. He has sold more than 30 million albums, and his summer tours routinely sell out massive stadiums across the country.

Chesney is currently getting ready to release a new album, Cosmic Hallelujahon Oct. 28. “Noise” and “Setting the World on Fire,” the project's first two singles, are available for download on iTunes.
