Kacey Musgraves has announced her plans to perform in her hometown for a good cause.

The "Dime Store Cowgirl" singer will host her Hometown Hang concert on Sept. 26, at the Mineola Nature Preserve. Proceeds will benefit art and music programs in local schools. Wade Bowen and John & Jacob will also perform at the event, as well as local students from the Wood County Schools.

"It will be a fun day of local food and music for a great cause," Musgraves says of the event in a tweet. "Sometimes arts are neglected in schools. This will go toward helping that!"

The 26-year-old credits her hometown with helping shape who she is as an artist.

“I love that I’m from a small town,” Musgraves says. “I grew up with, like, 80 kids in my graduating class, and we knew each other’s first and last names and where we lived. There’s something to being held accountable in a small town. If you’re mean, people are gonna find out about it.”

Musgraves' latest album, Pageant Material, debuted at the top of the charts when it was released in late June. The record includes a hidden track, "Are You Sure," which is a cover of a Willie Nelson song and a duet with Nelson himself.

“He couldn’t believe I knew it,” Musgraves recalls. “I just really loved it. It’s very honest and very country, [and] it’s a neat perspective. He seemingly pulled a guitar out of a cloud of smoke and started strumming. I was of course dying inside a little bit.”

Tickets for the Hometown Hang will be available on July 17 on Musgraves' website or at the Mineola Town Hall.
