It's official! The Johnny Cash Museum is scheduled to open in Nashville this summer. The facility's first phase will include a store, exhibits and a multipurpose venue.

"It has been a lifelong dream of mine to showcase Johnny Cash's life and career in a world-class exhibit for all his fans from around the world to enjoy," says founder Bill Miller. "Today we take the first step in making that dream a reality by announcing the birth of the Johnny Cash Museum, a world-class attraction opening in downtown Nashville, Tenn. This venue will feature the world's largest, most comprehensive and important collection of Cash artifacts and memorabilia anywhere in the world. I am honored that Johnny's children and family have joined us in enthusiastically supporting our project by sharing their precious artifacts with his fans."

The museum will house never-before-seen historical documents, letters, awards, costumes and instruments from the Man in Black's longtime friend, Bill Miller, as well as from his friends, colleagues and family members. Among the items are the earliest known Johnny Cash letters, as well as the handwritten manuscript of the last song the Arkansas native wrote.

"He's been an incredible supporter of my dad and one of the largest collectors of memorabilia," Johnny's daughter Rosanne Cash says of Miller. "If anybody has the whole structure to put up a museum, he does. So I have a lot of trust in him, and I think it's great at this point. I think he'll do something with dignity and class that's historically important, not some kitschy thing. I'm very interested in seeing what he does."

The second phase of the museum includes expanding the facility's space in its 119 Third Avenue South building. Ultimately, the goal is for the museum to span 18,000 square feet and to also consist of an onsite food venue and working archives.

Also coming soon is 'Bootleg Vol. IV: The Soul of Truth,' which is being released as part of an ongoing celebration of Johnny's 80th birthday, which would have been on Feb. 26. The collection will be released on April 3 at all digital and retail outlets.
