Joe Nichols joins the many fans of Garth Brooks who are considering booking a flight to Las Vegas to watch the entertainer live in concert.

But Joe has shared a stage with Garth before -- and it was a memorable night for both of them. In May 2005, Joe was among the lucky few who witnessed Garth's marriage proposal to Trisha Yearwood.

But the singer -- a true champion of traditional country music -- admits he was a little too distracted that night to pay much attention to the happy couple.

"A few years ago, we did a tribute show to Buck Owens at the Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, Calif., when Buck was still alive," recalls Joe. "They displayed 10 bronze statues, and Garth's was one of the statues. That's the only time I've seen him live. That was the night he got on stage and got on his knee and asked Trisha to marry him. I was by the stage visiting with my hero, Merle Haggard, when that went down, so I didn't get to see all of it, but I was there!"

Joe says Garth is "an incredibly kind man. He's one of the guys who ... deserves the success he's had because he's really great to people."

Joe Nichols will release his latest CD, 'Old Things New,' on Tuesday, Oct. 27. The Boot will have more of of our exclusive interview with Joe coming up this week!
