Expectant mother Jewel and her baby are 'fine,' following an accident involving the singer's vehicle and a fire truck earlier today (March 10).

"Jewel was hit by a fire truck this morning in Texas," the rep says in a statement. "The singer was taken to the hospital and current medical tests conducted indicate that she and the baby and doing fine."

TMZ is reporting that Jewel's vehicle was struck by a fire truck on the passenger side. In January, the pregnant singer and her husband Ty Murray announced they are expecting their first child, a son, this fall.

The family's newest edition is already inspiring his creative mom. "I've actually been writing songs for him," the singer says. "I wrote an album called 'Lullaby' when I was trying to get pregnant. Now that I'm pregnant, I'm writing a children's record. It's really been fun to write stuff ... you're thinking about what your child is going to want to hear and what's going to be a fun story."

But the baby's influence doesn't stop there. "I am gonna make little books to go with it, I think, because some of the songs are so visual that I really would love to do little drawings and make little books out of them," she added.
