Wisconsin native Jeffrey Foucault is debuting the new music video for his song "Slow Talker" exclusively for The Boot readers.

The concept for the "Slow Talker" video is simple, and its black-and-white imagery provides a poetic ambiance to the song. Throughout the clip, viewers will see a chair sitting alone in a field, expansive horizons and more. Every part of the music video is there for a reason -- but don't expect a clear-cut storyline.

"We shot a lot of footage, but in the end, it all came down to that old chair in the field and the western landscape," Foucault reflects to The Boot. "It’s like the ocean: large enough to absorb and obliterate whatever we bring to it, our stories, our sense of self.

""Slow Talker" is an intense song about a very still and peaceful idea: the power of being and playing real, of both losing and becoming yourself, and the line or tension between the self and the sublime. So the landscape and the chair become the central metaphors, the self interposed in all that wildness," Foucault adds. "There’s no narrative here, no story to get -- just image and metaphor: landscape and self, motion and stillness, darkness and light, black and white -- the distinction between wildness and civilization, self and sublime."

Foucault's says that his favorite part of the clip involves his drummer Billy Conway and dog Jane. You'll notice them standing at a fence line -- and not only does Foucault love that shot, but Conway built that fence.

“Slow Talker” is from Foucault's most recent record, Salt as Wolves, his 10th studio album.

The singer is currently on tour with the backing band from his album: electric guitar player Bo Ramsey (Lucinda Williams, Greg Brown), bassist Jeremy Moses Curtis (Booker T, Cold Satellite) and longtime drummer and tour partner Conway (Morphine). Caitlin Canty joins the band on backing vocals. A list of upcoming shows is available below.

Salt as Wolves is available for purchase on Foucault's website, as well as on iTunes and Amazon.
