The JayhawksJayhawks fans are in for a treat. The alt-country band's highly acclaimed, self-titled album -- often called 'The Bunkhouse Album' by loyalists -- will be available on CD this week.

Only 2,000 vinyl copies of 'The Jayhawks' -- the original 1986 album -- were released, and fans have scrambled to secure copies of the music ever since. The Lost Highway label will release the CD on May 18. The package will include an eight-page booklet with newly released photos from the recording session and an essay by Jayhawks' co-founder Mark Olson.

The new CD includes the original 13 songs from the album including fan favorite, 'Falling Star.'

The 1986 lineup of The Jayhawks featured Mark Olson (vocals/guitar), Gary Louris (lead guitar/vocals), Marc Perlman (bass) and Norm Rogers (drums).
