Jason Aldean mellowed out the 2015 CMT Music Awards crowd with his new single, "Tonight Looks Good on You."

The song, from his Old Boots, New Dirt record, was written by Rhett Akins, Ashley Gorley and Dallas Davidson. While Aldean performed, the words "tonight looks good on you" streamed behind him, creating a mesmerizing effect.

Aldean looked cool, calm and collected -- obviously, he's done this whole awards performance thing a time or two, and it showed in his delivery.

Though Aldean is more known for his uptempo, rock-heavy songs, he explains, “Just because I’m a country artist doesn’t mean I don’t hear things in other forms of music that I think are really cool and could work for what we’re doing here. From the very beginning, we’ve always tried to cut great songs. Some of those songs are about promoting having a good time — driving trucks, fishing, hunting, because that’s just what we do — but I would like to think that some stuff on this album is a little deeper, too.”

Aldean released the music video for "Tonight Looks Good on You" at the end of May; he plays the part of a working man in the clip.

The "Burnin' It Down" hitmaker is up for three awards at the 2015 CMT Awards: Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year and CMT Performance of the Year.
