Jake Owen had to yield to Mother Nature last weekend when hard rains forced him to cancel his charity concert in Vero Beach, Fla., but he wasn't about to let a little rain stop him from playing for the hometown crowd. The concert was the final event in an annual fundraising weekend for Mardy's Tennis and Jake's Music Fest, an event the singer co-hosts each year with tennis pro Mardy Fish. Disappointed at the cancellation, Jake headed straight for the Riverside Café, where he first got his start singing in college, and held an impromptu show for the standing-room-only crowd. Labelmate/buddy Chris Young (also on the bill for the charity concert), joined the spur-of-the-moment show, proving Jake's notion that the country community supports one another through thick and thin.

"I hold this benefit every year, and it's always a lot of fun," Jake tells the Boot. "I always have buddies come out to play it with me, like Chris Young and Eric Paslay. And that's what I love about country music the most, is how we support each other. People get on Twitter -- I do all the time, and I'm like, 'Go get my buddy Chris Young's album, go get Eric Church's album, it's awesome.' In so many other formats and genres, artists put other artists down. But by being positive, no one could ever fault you for that. I pull for everyone, and we all help each other out."

The concert for Jake's charity, which raises money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and children's athletic and music programs in the Vero Beach area, will be rescheduled. It takes place on the grounds of the Vero Beach Sports Village at Holman Stadium, which was built in 1953 to accommodate the Dodgers. The Village was formerly known as Dodgertown, and was the spring training home of the L.A. Dodgers for 60 years.

Following a show in N.C. this week, Jake will head home for the holiday break, then return to the road in 2012 for a year packed with shows. And he may just make Santa's naughty list this year with the sizzling new video he just released for his new single, 'Alone With You.' (Watch it here.)

"It's just a sexy song," Jake tells The Boot. "And I think coming from a male's perspective, the vulnerability of the song is attractive to a female. But I also think it's attractive to guys because it's cool to hear another guy admit a girl's getting to him. At the end of the day, a guy knows when a girl is getting to him, and whether or not a guy is going to be a guy and just not say it or not, I'm OK saying it. I'm alright to throw it out there and let people go, 'OK, I feel that way too.' I think there will be a lot of guys and girls out there who will relate to this song in a way where they either assess their relationship because of it, or they move on because of it, but either way they'll gravitate towards the song."
