Jake Owen's has selected "If He Ain't Gonna Love You," his collaboration with Chris Stapleton, as his newest single from his American Love album. The album's ninth track and second single is a funky, soulful plea to a woman to just ditch that loser already.

In the second verse of "If He Ain't Gonna Love You," Owen admits that he "don't want to come on too strong / Don't get me wrong," but he knows he's a better match.

"Girl, I need to talk to you / 'Cause I've got a question / See, it's more like a suggestion," he sings in the song's chorus. "And here's the deal / If he ain't gonna love you / If he ain't gonna love you, I will / Like you've never been loved before ..."

Stapleton co-wrote "If He Ain't Gonna Love You" with Luke Laird and Shane McAnally, and the star's instantly recognizable, gritty voice can be heard singing backup on the song.

"I remember, years back, calling and asking for Chris Stapleton [demo compilations] just so I could listen to his music. He didn't have a [solo] album out then, and I would listen to his songs all the time," Owen tells Rolling Stone Country. "For "If He Ain't Gonna Love You," he sang on the demo, too — and it's so good, it's hard to beat that. But he made me sound better."

American Love is available for order on iTunes now.
