The Nash Icon record label has a new artist on its roster: Hank Williams Jr.

Nash Icon formed in 2014, a joint venture between Big Machine Label Group and Cumulus Media. Williams Jr. is the label's fourth signed artist; he joins Reba McEntire, Ronnie Dunn and Martina McBride on the roster.

"Country music singers have always been a real close family," Williams Jr. says, adding praise for his new labelmates. "I have done shows with Ronnie Dunn, recorded a hit record with Reba and absolutely love Martina McBride."

Williams Jr. is planning to release a new album -- the 37th of his career -- later this year. The record will be his first since 2012's Old School New Rules.

"I am writing songs better than ever and am signed with a label that is already making history," the singer says. "It’s an exciting time!"

Rumors of Williams Jr.'s possible deal with Nash Icon began after he performed at the 2014 American Country Countdown Awards in an "ICON" hat.

“We are all absolutely thrilled and honored to have Hank Jr. join us at Nash Icon Records," the label's general manager, Jim Weatherson, says. "His passion for making new music has never been stronger, and creatively, he is on fire!”

Williams Jr. seems to have made a good choice in signing with the label, as his labelmate McBride has great things to say about her experience so far.

“You know, we had a meeting the other day with the whole label, and it was like, there was so much positive energy and excitement in that room," she says. "It was like the old days: Everybody was just on 10, and there were all these great ideas floating around. It’s a very creative company.”
