Could an Academy Award be in Hank Williams, Jr.'s future?

The country music hitmaker's song, 'Angels Are Hard to Find' appears in the blockbuster movie, 'Gravity,' starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. The tune is played as Clooney and Bullock, who are on a mission in space, realize they are in grave danger when their shuttle is destroyed and their hope of rescue diminishes. The tune provides a much-needed emotional backdrop for the intensity of the scene.

“This song was on both my 1974 album 'Living Proof,' and the 1991 album 'Pure Hank.' It just proves good songs resurface at the appropriate time,” the singer explains. “I like both Sandra Bullock and George Clooney in their roles. Then hearing my song in the movie, for me, already made it a winner.”

Williams' composition of the theme song for Monday Night Football, 'Are You Ready For Some Football,' has already earned him three Emmy awards.

The 64-year-old just released a video of his duet with Merle Haggard, 'I Think I'll Just Stay Here and Drink,' which appears on his 'Old School New Rules' album. He will headline Nashville's fifth annual New Year's Eve Bash on Broadway on Dec. 31, which also marks the 60th anniversary of the death of his father, Hank Williams.
