Don Gallardo enlisted his friends and tourmates The Battlefield for this Guest Room Sessions installment. Readers can press play above to watch their moonlit performance of Gallardo's song "Down in the Valley."

"Down in the Valley" appears on Gallardo's Hickory album, released in 2015. The setting for his Guest Room Sessions video -- Snowbasin Resort in Huntsville, Utah -- just made perfect sense to the artist.

"The beautiful snow-covered valley lay below us, so I felt the song was perfect," Gallardo tells The Boot. "We had just finished a show at Snowbasin, and as the resort was closing for the night, we stepped outside in the 15-degree weather to film the video."

In addition to the snow-capped setting, a sweet moose statue helps drive home the vibe. Americana four-piece The Battlefield add rich harmonies to the laid-back tune; Gallardo asked them to accompany him for this performance because he wanted to help show off what they can do.

"They are great friends, and we were wrapping up a 10-day tour together from Los Angeles to Utah," Gallardo says. "I believe in them and their music, as they are extremely passionate and a very hard-working band."

Gallardo recently released a new full-length album, Still Here, on April 27. He's generally one to write his own songs, but Gallardo worked with a bounty of songwriters to produce a diverse collection of tunes this time around; musicians who have worked with Johnny Cash, Margo Price, George Jones and Patty Griffin also make appearances on the record.
