Grand Ole Opry Celebrates 90th Anniversary With ‘Family Album’
The country music community is celebrating 90 years since the beginning of the Grand Ole Opry, and in honor of the anniversary, the Opry has released a special memento.
Out now, the Grand Ole Opry 90th Anniversary Family Album celebrates nine decades of memorable moments on the Opry stage. The special edition of the book has been released in hardcover and features copies of items from many of the Opry's most historic moments: the invitation to Keith Urban's Opry induction; a letter thanking Minnie Pearl for her hospitality from then-vice president George H.W. Bush and his wife, Barbara Bush; and the dedication that Brad Paisley penned for Little Jimmy Dickens. The book also includes over 400 photos from the Opry's archives, highlighting decades of country music history.
In addition to photos and memorabilia, the book holds stories from the country music genre's past, including the day Johnny Cash and June Carter met at the Ryman Auditorium; Dolly Parton's serenade to Porter Wagoner; and the Opry visits of some of the biggest names in world history, from President Richard Nixon to the Byrds to Kevin Costner. Grand Ole Opry 90th Anniversary Family Album also highlights current members of the Opry, including Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks and others.
